Today was a rough day for me.  I got up early to go and workout, because I decided to go to Weight Watchers meetings for the first time.

I worked out with my trainer.  I did some cardio and some weight lifting fr upper body.  I only got a 45 minute workout in since I needed to get home for a shower prior to the meeting.

I got home and showered and headed to my first weight watchers meeting only to arrive and find out that I had gotten ready for a meeting that was canceled.

Decided to go to the grocery store to go shopping and I bought a few things.  Went home to cook.  Made 6 meals tonight.  5-Pork Chop and 1-Chicken Thighs.  Also made a meatloaf  that was made using Ground Turkey.  For the six meals it came to a cost of $5.08 o $0.85 per meal.  The meatloaf yielded 6 pieces at about 2 1/2 oz per slice and cost $0.67 per slice.  Made a fresh fruit salad for about $4.00 and thee is tons of it.  I used freshly locally grown watermelon, cantelope, peaches, and grapes (grapes purchased at the store).

Was on plan today so no problems there.  Actually have 6 points left plus any of my Activity Points I want to use, which I probably will opt not to use them.

Weigh In with my online program is Wednesday and will go to next Sundays Weight Watchers Meeting.

Have a GREAT week!

TGIF…

August 7, 2009

Well, it’s Friday and all I can say is bring on the weekend! Today started a fresh new week of WW and boy did I need a new start. As you can see to the right, I gained weight this week! I knew it was coming but I guess I was hoping for a pleasant surprise like a .2 lb gain, but it was 2.6 lb gain. I just started keeping track of everything again as far as points, writing everything down and planning. I need to get my head in the exercise game now! I guess I’ll share with y’all what I ate today so that maybe you can have some ideas…

Breakfast

1 fat free strawberry yogurt (1 pt) with 1 cup strawberries (1 pt) and 1 cup blueberries (1 pt)

Lunch

Smart Ones Pepperoni pizza (8 pts); single serving frozen corn (2 pts); 1 fat free choc/van pudding (1 pt); 1 diet pepsi

Snack

WW Mozzarella string cheese (1 pt)

Dinner

6 oz pork chop seasoned with onion salt, garlic salt, pepper, olive oil on the grill (5 pts)

1 large sweet potato baked (3 pts); 1 cup Tomato, mozzarella, basil, balsamic, olive oil salad (6 pts);  2 pieces garlic bread (6 points) 1 diet pepsi

So, I’m right at my point limit of 35 for the day…not too bad. The garlic bread threw me over, but I figured I worked hard today so I deserved a treat. I may even have a Skinny cow ice cream later for a snack! Well, I better get going so I can enjoy the evening. Like I said, new week, new start so if you goofed up this past week too, get back on track and keep going!

Well night is upon us, and I’m done with my points for the day.  Today was an okay of a day with the points.  This morning I woke up at 630am with what I thought was a bit more energy then I normally have.  I got up and started my breakfast which was 2 Wheat Eggos with 1 cup of Raspberries and 1/4 cup of SF Syrup.  I sat down and ate my breakfast, but by 7 am I realized I was still a bit tired.  I went and layed in the love seat for another hour till 8am which at that point I got up and ready for work.  At work I did have a egg white breakfast sandwhich.

For lunch another associate and I went to Olive Garden, where I had some soup and salad.  I did, dig into 4 breadsticks, and boy were they delicious.  I was so excited to eat those things, but the point value added up quickly.

I ate one of my premade meals for dinner that was 7 points.  Not to mention 3 hours later I ended up eating a sandwhich.  For the day I went over 3 points.  That means I will only have 32 weekly points left, which I’m okay with.  I must get back to the gym this weekend.  I have two more work days and then I get one more day off.  Then it is 6 more days before I get another day off.

Well I wish everyone a great night!

Tip for the day:  Take your lunch to work every day and save yourself at least $20.00 per week, or $80.00 per month.  Choice is yours or how about $960.00 per year.  Now if you are a couple you could save $1,920.00 a year.  That is awesome, that is like a small vacation somewhere, just by you take your lunch to work every day.

August 5, 2009

Today was my weigh in and day, and I have to say I was very happy to find out that I had lost 3.6lbs.  That was 1% of my total weight.  It was a good start considering I didn’t get down and dirty with the program until Sunday night.  I remember on Friday going to the Chinaese Buffet on Friday for lunch.  Okay, now I’m focused on the goal.  Weight loss.

I was very proactive in my weight loss journey last night, as I decided to prepare 8 meals.  I used my glad interlocking lids to help me with this.  I cooked 4 pieces of chicken weighing an average of 4 ounces, and 4 lean pork chops weighing about 3 to 5 ounces.  I boiled some potatoes and made my very own mixed vegetable.  Each meal got a meat, 1/2 cup of boiled potatoes and 3/4 cup of mixed vegetable.  Last but not least, I listed the total point value of each meal right on the top, allowing me to know, if I eat what is inside that I will consume this many points.  A great way to make your lunch.  This morning it litterally took 2 minutes to make my lunch.  It was faster than making a sandwhich.

Today I thought I did really well with my choices:

Breakfast:  Egg white, Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato on Wheat Bread.  One cup of lowfat Cottage Cheese with hot sauce!  I a glass of orange juice to wash it all down with.

Lunch:  I had my 6 point pork chop lunch meal, along with a yougrt, banana and grapes.

Snack:  2 pickles

Dinner:  I had a 1/2 pizza only earning me a mere 10 points, which when you have 20 isn’t bad.  (This food was in my freezer prior to me starting this hard core).  Still a feasable meal.  I had two ears of fresh picked corn from the farmer down the street.  A freshly made salad with Fat Free Italian Dressing.

I have been drinking fruit flavored decaf tea with lemon juice.

I still have a few points for tonight, and plan on using them wisely.

I did take another day off from the gym, as I still have a bit of soreness.  I don’t need to injure myself, so I will return probably tomorrow.  We will see how I feel.

Other than that staying on plan, and making the right choices!

Keep with it, and I’ll see you around!

D-Day…

August 5, 2009

So, all in all, I have to say that today was a really good day. Mostly because I wrote everything I ate down…as they say at WW, “you bite it, you write it”…Now, I’m going into the evening with 3.5 points left and a skinny cow dessert waiting for me! Thats one thing, I have to have chocolate at least once a day! These skinny cow chocolate ice cream cone sundaes are amazing and only 3 points!!! Definitely satisfies the craving!! AND they are big enough so that you feel satisfied once your done. The other thing I’m really happy about is that I went grocery shopping. I found that this is so important because the minute I start eating out for meals, things go down hill fast!! I know what I put in things and how they are made…eating out doesn’t give me this piece of mind. I bought a lot of veggies and fruit…yogurt, individual reduced fat peanut butter cups (I like to bring these and celery sticks to work for a snack), Arnold’s flatbread is amazing…you can use them for anything…toast, sandwiches, hamburger buns…so, needless to say I’m excited to get back on track. Tomorrow is weigh in day, and I think I may have gained this week! I know though, that I’m living each day for today and forgetting about yesterday…I can only look to the future and a healthier me.

Nathan and I both have struggled with this battle all our lives. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to be a smaller version of myself. Yeah, I can sit here and say that the only reason I am losing weight is to get healthy, which is true and most important, but I want to look good too. Let’s face it, I’m sick of shopping in the “fat girl” stores! So, the fight continues….wish me luck with weigh in day!!!

Here we go…

August 5, 2009

And it begins…we’ve both been trudging along on our weight loss journey separately. Now, it’s time to go at it together! Having the necessary support is essential for a life change like this to occur. I have been attending Weight Watchers (WW) meetings  since February (about 6 months now) and I’ve lost 28 lbs. The last 2 months has been a real challenge so now I’m trying to get back on program.  I think having another person to check and balance you will make all the difference. So, maybe the last 2 months haven’t been perfect, but tomorrow is another day…I’m excited to start this couples challenge and I hope we can get others to join us! Be prepared for a little friendly competition!!
